DHIS2
DHIS2 Hosting
We deliver secure cloud and on-premise hosting services for large-scale DHIS2 projects (i.e. 20+ servers) across various countries and health areas. Our single largest supported instance has more than 140,000 organization units, 600 programs, 50,000 data elements, and 8 million tracked entity instances.
As part of our services, we provide real-time monitoring and alert systems to make continual improvements for performance optimization as the DHIS2 implementation scales. Our team has worked with DHIS2 developers to measure DHIS2 performance in different scenarios, and we believe we can provide the best performance optimization, specially with big DHIS2 databases.
If requested by our clients, we are happy to host the DHIS2 instances using their infrastructure.
DHIS2 Configuration
We have more than 15 years of experience in DHIS2 configuration and implementation (from DHIS2 version 2.06 released in 2010 to the most recent version) across diverse contexts that include iNGOs, Ministries of Health and research institutions in more than 50 countries.
We always take into consideration the local context and needs, while aiming to maximize the value of the data for its analysis. Our approach has generally been to design hand-in-hand with the in-house staff who manage the system day-to-day, in order to build local ownership of the system.
We support the design and ongoing implementation of one of the largest DHIS2 information system deployments in the world.
DHIS2 Integration & Interoperability
Our team has many years of experience working on different interoperability solutions. Our most common use cases are related to the integration of separate DHIS2 instances belonging to different organizations. For example, we have set up the integration between several NGOs that automatically push data to Ministries of Health in Laos, Burundi, and Myanmar.
SolidLines has many years of experience integrating DHIS2 aggregate and tracker data with different BI tools like PowerBI or Tableau. We have also defined an architecture that allows for the integration of chatbots and other consumer-facing tools with DHIS2, allowing for a more complex ecosystem of reporting tools.
Metadata & Data Quality Checks
One of our key priorities is to ensure that organizations have the best possible quality in their data. In our experience, failure to audit databases results in poor data quality and inconsistences at the moment of analysis or data entry.
We have been working with the University of Oslo (UiO) to define different methods that enable organizations to identify inconsistences, corrupt data, and broken dependencies within their databases. We have a set of tools that isolate and enable triaging of possible data and metadata quality issues.
DHIS2 Webapps & Scripting
Our team is certified as DHIS2 WebApps developers. In an effort to adapt the look and feel of DHIS2 data entry apps to the local context, we have developed different webapps using various javascript frameworks, custom forms, and custom reports.
We have also developed several DHIS2 scripts to perform more complex calculations.
DHIS2 Training
Our group of consultants has led and facilitated numerous formal and informal trainings in more than 20 countries to build local capacity and ownership of their information systems.

Generative AI
We use the latest technology in LLMs to facilitate bilateral communication between users and organizational data, using chatbots and other AI-based applications to have smooth and intuitive interactions with complex data sources.

From analyzing users’ needs and feedback in social media using NLP tools and sentiment analysis, to forecasting patients’ needs with DHIS2 data using clustering and predictive analytics.

Cloud Computing
Complex Architectures
We build complex information ecosystems, in which DHIS2 often acts as a central data warehouse and is also connected to custom and generic web- and Android-based apps, AI bot frameworks, social media apps, external platforms like Azure, and business intelligence tools.
In the past, we have developed a chatbot leveraging Microsoft bot framework that enables users to engage in bi-directional communications through social media apps like Facebook Messenger (among many others) and submit data directly to DHIS2 using Messenger as an interface.
Data Science
We believe that all type of data may have value for an organization, regardless of its format: structured, semi-structured or unstructured. This data can be stored in system logs, social media channels, in google news, and so on.
SolidLines uses a data platform architecture capable of storing any kind of data, regardless of its size. We also specialize in building data pipelines that automatically extract information from different data sources. We can use databricks to transform and load any kind the data into models that can then be analyzed by any BI tool, fed into machine learning algorithms or integrated with other systems.
Hosting Infrastructure
Our team has extensive experience hosting very complex infrastructure in the cloud or on-premise. In fact, they have previously worked on hosting several machines and services of some of the largest IT companies around the world.
We have many years of experience managing Solaris, Linux and Windows systems, managing servers setup and maintenance, including backups, users, monitoring, alerting, and security. Some of these systems contain databases of more than 100 TB. We are also AWS certified.
Analytics & Consumer-Facing Solutions
Business Intelligence
We bring many years of experience with the setup and management of different BI tools. We are experts building different data models to maximize the meaning of the data and analytic capabilities.
We have developed an infrastructure to support DHIS2 integration with different BI tools. We query and transform the data coming from different DHIS2 sources in one centralized data warehouse (DWH). The same DWH is being used as a data entry point for any BI tool, such as SuperSet, Power BI or Tableau.
Machine Learning
We use different machine learning algorithms and APIs to perform advanced analytics, such as predictive analytics, sentiment analysis, pattern recognition, entity classification, and natural language processing, among others. For instance, we have developed a solution that is capable of reading messages from social media channels (i.e. several marketing campaigns) and extracts the key concepts of the messages via sentiment analysis to analyze people’s perceptions.
Also, we have linked DHIS2 with several AI APIs and algorithms to perform complex predictions with DHIS2 data, improve data quality, and classify the data contained in different programs.
Chatbots
We have developed several chatbots that enable users to engage in bi-directional communications through social media apps like Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Telegram, Viber, among many others. Our most common use cases are to report malaria, fever, and COVID-19 cases, as well as for educational purposes.
The data collected by the chatbot (developed using RapidPro, Microsoft Bot Framework, and others) can be sent directly to DHIS2 (or any other backend) in a secure manner, as well as stored in a middleware that can be connected with other BI tools, such as Power BI.
